Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion

Chronic diseases, such as heart disease, COPD, and cancer, remain the leading causes of death worldwide. Furthermore, chronic disease treatment accounts for the majority of health care costs in the U.S. The Research & Evaluation Group at PHMC has led numerous studies and program evaluations focused on preventing and treating chronic diseases. For example, we have collected data from Latina women on breast health patient navigation; supported the American Lung Association in developing signature program outcome measures and conducting spatial analysis of its reach; evaluated diabetes prevention program activities; and examined hypertension, obesity, and asthma projects for a variety of clients.

Some of our past and current funders include the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and Health Promotion Council (HPC).
